Chettinad Academy of Research and Education (CARE) was declared a Deemed to be University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 in the year 2008. Since its inception, CARE has been making significant contributions to society as a premier institution for higher learning and research, particularly in the fields of Medicine, Allied Health Sciences and Nursing.

CARE is approved by statutory and regulatory bodies including MCI, INC, TNNMC, AICTE, COA, BCI and PCI. The institution is accredited with an ‘A++’ grade by NAAC, conferred 12B status by UGC, accorded SIRO status by DSIR, awarded a star by MHRD’s Innovation Cell, and appreciated by AICTE for its Clean & Smart Campus initiatives. CARE is also ranked 9th in the country by UI Green Metric for sustainability and eco-friendly practices.

The University offers 74 academic programmes across the Faculties of Medicine, Nursing and Allied Health Sciences (AHS), Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Architecture, Commerce and Law. Many of these programmes are interdisciplinary and aligned with emerging global and societal needs. Currently, CARE nurtures a vibrant academic community of over 2,500 students pursuing Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Ph.D. programmes.

CARE continues to shape the future of education across South India through its dynamic campuses located at Kelambakkam, Manamai, Kolar Gold Fields, Karur and Kanadukathan (Karaikudi).
